I don't know how it came and went so quickly but I am so
happy (and RELIEVED) to have completed my first full year of college at Utah
Valley University. Some things that I learned this year in college,
- I'm actually a lot worse at math than I originally thought.
- I like spending time with my parents more than I like spending time with friends (if you know my parents then it's obvious why, they're awesome.)
- I will never be as good of a cook as my mom, and when you don't have the luxury of a home cooked meal every day when you get home from school you hate your life and eat a lot of granola bars instead.
- Apartment laundry machines ruin clothes, so instead you'll just quit washing your clothes altogether.
- Twin beds are the pits.
- The freshman 15 was so real for me, unfortunately.
BUT:
I also
learned that despite nearly failing math I am actually a lot smarter than I
thought. I learned that I have the potential to do and be whatever I want to
be, that nothing is impossible, but EVERYTHING requires hard work and effort. And
although school is never anyone's favorite, college is so rewarding. Not only
did I learn so much academically this year but I learned even more about
myself, and not without the help of excellent friends. It is crucial that you
meet and stick with people who are uplifting and supportive, and of course fun.
It's also important to find peers who share similar values to yourself, for
obvious reasons. I feel so blessed to have met some of the greatest people that
have truly been there for me and made this year so great.
One
year down and 3 more to go, here's to loving every second of it.
When Gossip Girl meets Vampire Diaries... MAGIC
Sincerely, Mackenzie
